The Healthy Living Center opened its doors in January 2011. Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi, Inc. established the facility as a community center to offer healthy living opportunities to the public. Since 2011, thousands of clients have received services including diabetes education, healthy cooking classes, early childhood intervention and education, assistance with prescription medications and community to clinic linkages.

What we do: Transforming and supporting healthy lifestyles and strong, resilient families. Educating the community on the power of preventive health and creating an environment of healthy change. Providing chronic disease self-management and support services. Assisting clients with prescription medications. Promoting healthy lifestyle campaigns on a community level and building community partnerships. Supporting clients with community and clinic linkages. Family Outreach services includes the Parents as Teachers program where parents are empowered to be their child’s first teacher by increasing parent knowledge of early childhood development and improving parenting practices. Graduates of the Parents as Teachers program score higher on kindergarten readiness tests, are better problem solvers, and are more advanced in language and social development. Screening young children birth to five (5) years old for developmental delays.
