Fr. David Walsh, CSsR
10th Anniversary Memorial Event
"On an exciting note, as you all know that NCOD offers a prestigious award, Father Walsh Pastoral Worker of the Year during our annual PW conference, we have received an email from Celia Mendez in the Diocese of Corpus Christi, Texas announcing that they will have a 10th Anniversary Memorial Holy Mass for Rev.
David Walsh, CSsR on Sunday, August 2, 2015. Here is what Celia said in her
email to our NCOD Office:
"When we moved to Corpus Christi in 1982, Fr. Walsh was already busy gathering
the Deaf, I seriously think he was already waiting for us at our front door! I remember him saying he had hit the jackpot...we have 3 deaf in our family! He immediately became part of our family. And for the next 20+ years he literally took me by the
hand and taught me to see Jesus in every person I meet. He was a great mentor!
I am forever grateful to him."
In addition, Celia is aware that even though it would be wonderful if all could attend,
it may be difficult to make the trip down to Corpus Christi for this special celebration. She wants to extend the opportunity to those who knew Father Walsh to send her video clippings of testimonies/fond memories of which they will combine and create
a video to show at the celebration. She also mentions that a celebration program will be produced so for those organizations or businesses that knew Fr. Walsh to consider placing an advertisement in the program book. She would like for us to make this celebration a beautiful tribute. The Board all thought this is a tremendous idea for all of us out there to collaborate as we know that we owe much gratitude to Fr. Walsh
for his generous contributions which have influenced our Deaf ministries."
